Blockchain is here to stay, but not all blockchains are created equally. Daniela Barbosa, GM of Blockchain at the Linux Foundation and Executive Director of the Hyperledger Foundation and Hart Montgomery, Hyperledger Foundation CTO, will cover a history of blockchain at the LF since 2015 when the Hyperledger Foundation was founded to today where multiple blockchain projects are being worked on by our open source communities. The speakers will share with the audience what enterprise use cases are leveraging what we call the continuum of permissioned and permissionless (public) blockchain use cases and the technology considerations on choosing one over the other and even when hybrid use cases are appropriate. From the first blockchain technology project to be open sourced at the LF, Hyperledger Fabric a permissioned DLT that has been adopted by many enterprises, to the latest community lead projects at the Hyperledger Foundation like Besu, an enterprise Ethereum mainnet client, to projects like openIDL a blockchain network for the insurance industry. This session will aim to answer many of the questions enterprises have on when and how to use blockchain technologies.
