Open Source Program Offices engage engineers in many ways. Not only do OSPOs transform the way a company interacts within the OSS space, but they also work internally as well. By now, most companies have tried their hand at “digital transformation” through Agile and DevOps initiatives. While companies do benefit from these methodologies, they often find that the outcomes do not meet expectations. A strong InnerSource program is the missing ingredient that completes the digital transformation picture, and OSPOs are direct proponents of transformation through InnerSource. We engage engineers through cross collaboration that facilitates inter-team teaching and learning. We encourage community support by helping engineers seek out answers from the internal community. When working with OSS best practices inside your organization, you can streamline production to bring your products to market faster, cheaper and more securely. InnerSource is the key, and your OSPO can show the way. John Mark Walker will walk through the common practices of how OSPOs bust silos to improve the developer experience and deliver innovation at scale.
